It has being a while since I have
written, my apologies to those who are curious.
Yesterday, I visited my
grandfather in Cessnock Hospital, which is five minutes from his house. My
grandfather’s 88th Birthday was on the 13th July. I had
plans of taking him out to celebrate, but unfortunately he went into hospital
that day. He remained in the John
Hunter Newcastle hospital, until the London Olympics commenced. He shouldn’t of
being allowed out, but I think he convinced the nurses to let him watch the
Olympics in the comfort of his own home. Even at age 88, he still has a way of
talking to women. However, naturally after a week he had to go back into
hospital but this time he is closer to home. Due to my grandfather loosing
almost all his feeling in his right foot, and being a diabetic he unfortunately
got Gangrene on one of his toes. Whilst it is manageable, due to his age it
takes a far greater toll on his body.
It was the afternoon when we
arrived to visit him. When I walked in the hospital room, he just had some medication and was a bit drowsy. He looked sick, and I felt incredibly helpless to see him like that. Although when he
looked over, and saw us walk in he immediately smiled and his face lighted up. He was so delighted
to see us. I felt so much better personally to see him happy and gain colour in his face. I had a beautiful
couple of hours with him. We talked about life in general and also he was able
to help me with some questions on the current chapter I am working on. He then
proudly told all the nurses that I was writing a book about him. It was a
little embarrassing, but very funny. Driving home, and after spending time with
him I felt more motivated then ever to get this book completed as soon as
possible. I am currently on a tight schedule and aiming to have the first draft
completed by the end of this year.
