Thank you & Merry Christmas

As the year comes to a close I realise I haven’t written anything on my grandfather’s book since he passed. However, I think it’s the first time that I don’t feel guilty for not. I have loved every single day that I have worked on retelling my grandfather’s story, not only because I got to learn and spend time with this fascinating hero, but learning about World War II, the Japanese, and samurai swords were topics that I knew very little of two years ago. When you’re writing a book you have this strange feeling of love and guilt, as all you want to do is just finish it as it takes so much time and energy out of you. And, when you’re not working on the book you feel like you should be, as everyday your not it makes you another day behind for when it will be published.
For the past 3 months I have been working on establishing a business with my friend Hanna. Hanna’s background is in Photography, Film & TV and with mine in writing and finance, we loved the idea and prospects of what we could achieve if we collaborated together. Hanna is a beautiful soul, with so much energy and passion for life. Therefore, it was without hesitation that creating Axel & Ash couldn’t feel any more right than jumping in the ocean on a hot summer’s day. The foundation of our business is creating unique, “fill-me-in” journals, allowing anyone to insert and capture their own personal journey. ‘I am consumed by Wanderlust’, is our first book and is expected to be released in February 2013.

It is fascinating how the world works in mysterious ways as since my grandfather passed I know I have thrown my absolute everything in creating this business. I have still being working full-time, and running around like a somewhat robot, tired from an average of 6 hours sleep, but I couldn’t be anymore happier. Life is truly beautiful. But working hard means that there isn’t time for you to do or see much of your friends or family. So I would like to take this opportunity to thank my beloved family and friends who have supported me, and have believed in absolutely everything I have strived for. I love you all very dearly. Also, a big thank you to my mentors/editors who have provided such honest feedback and helped me develop my writing. Without all of you I can’t achieve to the best of my ability, and you all provide this motivation and push that just keeps me going.

For next year… I am looking forward to picking up and finally finishing my grandfather’s book, and releasing ‘I am consumed by Wanderlust’. But I am also looking forward to the unknown… as the unknown is what brings the most challenging times but also the opportunities. My grandfather left me with this invaluable advice “follow your dreams as you never know where they will lead you”. He couldn't be anymore right !
